Banque Populaire XI’s Armel Le Cléac'h are expected about eight hours later
The floodgates are opening
After Tom Laperche and Franck Cammas celebrated their victory early this morning aboard SVR Lazartigue in the ULTIM class finishers will now come into Fort-de-France thick and fast over the next 24 hours. By late afternoon today (local time) we will know the podium in the Ocean Fifty class, where Pierre Quiroga and Gaston Morvan are currently leading on Wewise. The first IMOCA will be arriving early tomorrow Saturday, Charal is still in control of the race in this class. Class40’s leaders still have 2200 miles to go and are led SNSM (French Sea Rescue Society) on their rodeo rode off the Azores, while the main fleet struggles in the ridge between Madeira and the Canary Islands…On est loin de pronostics aussi précis en Class40. Emmenée par SNSM faites un don, la tête de flotte continue son rodéo au large des Açores, alors que le gros des troupes peine dans la dorsale entre Madère et les Canaries…

SVR's time has come
Winning the TRANSAT CAFÉ l’OR is the biggest success yet for big blue trimaran which has always shown great promise as the newest, lightest and most aerodynamic of the ULTIM fleet. Second on this race in 2021 and 2023 when sailed by Francois Gabart and Laperche, this banner result is a great reward for a team which worked tirelessly after Laperche had to retire when leading 2024’s Arkéa Ultim Challenge, the first ever solo non-stop ULTIM race around the world.
Two years ago SVR Lazartigue led this race at the southernmost turning mark, Ascension Island, by 30 nautical miles but were overpowered by Armel Le Cléac'h and Seb Josse on Banque Populaire XI who went on to win.
