And the chasing duo have been going fastest and have more than halved the leaders' cushion in the last 24 hours. All the time remember that Douguet and Tréhin carry a 21 minutes and 38 seconds time advantage. At current speeds there is certainly less than 1 hour between them. And on the approach to Martinique the advantage is almost always with the chasing boat as they can watch and see how the leading boat does in the difficult, squally breezes.

It is now just a few hours before the first Class40 duos finish and it too close to call! With less than 50 miles to the finish line off Fort-de-France it looks like there will be minutes in it. Leaders Guillaume Piroulle and Cedric Chateau (Seafrigo Sogestran) eight miles ahead of Corentin Douguet and Axel Tréhin (SNSM Faites un don).
"The difficulty will be finding the right wind angles," explains Guillaume Pirouelle, currently leading "We’re having to gybe to get the best angles and so we cover more distance. Meanwhile, SNSM is on a straight course but with a bit less wind."
Yesterday SNSM Faites un don! took the opportunity to climb the mast before the final miles and make a few repairs. "We can reuse the J1 if needed during the finish line."
In third position, Les Invincibles of William Mathelin-Moreaux and Pietro Luciani look set to hold that position, enjoying a lead of 200 miles or so over fourth placed Class40
