A welcome with music, culture, and identity

As they approached the pontoon of honor, the island offered its sailors a deeply Martinican welcome:

  • The Watabwi conch shell blowers led the way with their ancestral, solemn, and vibrant call.
  • Then the VakBand walking group transformed the arrival into a moment of popular jubilation, in an irresistible carnival atmosphere.

Between tradition and celebration, Martinique turned out in force, happy and proud.

Strong emotions. Popular emotion.

The walkabout was a moment of rare intensity: cries of joy, tears, flags, songs, hugs, everything that makes the return of two of the island's children so beautiful.

"Jean-Yves & Moane: Martinique is proud of you. You are coming home after crossing the Atlantic, and an entire people is welcoming you with open arms."
